Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on what you value most. Medicare Advantage plans can be very cost-effective upfront, but they come with networks, prior authorizations, and higher out-of-pocket exposure if something major happens. A Medicare Supplement (like Plan G) gives you the most freedom to see any doctor nationwide that accepts Medicare and keeps your costs very predictable.
That said, it’s important to understand that Medicare Supplement premiums are rising right now, in many areas 15–22% annually. So while they offer stronger protection, they are becoming more expensive over time. The right choice comes down to whether you prioritize lower upfront cost or long-term predictability and access.
If you don’t have credible coverage (like employer insurance), you can face lifetime penalties. Part B has a permanent monthly penalty, and Part D also has a penalty that never goes away. You may also have to wait for a limited enrollment window, which could leave you without coverage for months. Timing your enrollment correctly is critical.
You can switch, but it’s not always easy. After your initial enrollment window, most states require you to pass medical underwriting to get a supplement. That means your health can impact approval. If you want the long-term security of a supplement, your first enrollment window is your best opportunity to lock it in. Unless you live in a state where the "Birthday Rule" applies where you would have a few other protections based on the type of Birthday rule.
This is happening across the country right now. Insurance companies are under more cost pressure from Medicare, especially with rising medical and prescription drug costs. To manage that, they are reducing extra benefits, tightening networks, and being more selective about where they spend money. The result is fewer added perks and more limitations than in previous years.
Many doctors and health systems are choosing to limit or drop certain Medicare Advantage plans due to lower reimbursement rates, prior authorization requirements, and increased administrative burden. In many cases, they still accept Medicare, just not that specific Advantage plan. This is why it’s important to review your coverage each year and confirm your doctors are still in-network.

Jeremiah was extremely helpful and willing to go that extra mild help answer questions that I had for him. I actually heard him speaking to another of the clients and that’s how I got his information and decide I want to speak with him as opposed to someone I’ve been talking to previously they didn’t feel I was worth their time. Jeremiah was not like that whatsoever.
